December 19, 1899

Akin to tasting tree bark on fire.

I remember thinking this when pouring whiskey into me for the first time. Now I'd use actual tree bark, in addition to buffalo chips, to help set ablaze this hellhole that helped unleash my inner demon.

I stared at the flame that would set it all into motion. Is it coincidental that it's shaped like a teardrop?

When I looked into Hester's eyes on that night so long ago were such reflections of the candle flames a foreshadow of this very night?

With tree bark and shit chips hugging the Gem's base I kissed the flame to the kindle before throwing the torch through one of the windows.

A few seconds and screams began to rise, whores pouring out like ants from a mound.

Once I set eyes on Hester I'd grab her, throw her on the back of a horse.I had earlier thieved, and send her back home to the children.

But first I had one more round of killin’ to do.
