Rico Lamoureux, author and founder of Riker Books, thought he beat the odds and found love on the popular dating app, eharmony.
In addition to him and his match having a high compatibility score, the two clicked right off the bat, soon leaving the dating app's chat and moving on to audio messages and phone conversations.
A nice progression over a period of a few weeks.
Then, out of the blue and with no warning, the author's prospect ghosted him, placing Rico among the over fifty percent of online daters who have experienced a positive virtual connection only to have their cyber match cut and run.
With no idea what he did wrong, along with the fact his connection had assured him she was not the type to do such a thing, he took his frustration and placed it in his talent, taking the topic of online ghosting and turning it into his next crime thriller.
The author's short story, Heather, is now in its prelaunch stage on kickstarter, where it will be going on the journey from written word to graphic novel.
'My love letter to the online dating world,' the author laughs.
When asked how much of his own personal experiences he put into this story he describes as, 'online dating gone horribly wrong', he shares only one tidbit.
'Heather. The woman who was so callous with my heart. Her name is Heather.'
His next statement is almost as shocking as one of his crime thrillers.
'If I succeed with this crowdfunding book project and it becomes a bestseller, the name of the woman who ghosted me will forever be on my forearm.
'I've always said I would get a tattoo of the book cover of my first bestseller, and if this turns out to be Heather I will keep my word and have it forever etched onto my skin.'
